Primate Field Observations

I have been a field assistant on several studies of wild primate behavior. In 2014, I spent two months observing northern bamboo lemurs (Hapalemur occidentalis) in the Antanetiambo Nature Reserve in northeastern Madagascar in collaboration with the Duke Lemur Center SAVA Conservation Initiative. I also observed Yucatan black howler monkeys (Alouatta pigra) in Palenque National Park, Chiapas, Mexico, under the direction of Dr. Sarie Van Belle. These experiences taught me how to systematically observe animal behavior in the field through scan sampling methods.
